LATIN AMERICAN GOLFERS ATTEND THE BRAZILIAN JUVENILE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
The 21st Brazilian Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile Amateur Golf Championship were held from January 26 to 29 in the state of Paraná, at the Alphaville Graciosa Clube, in Pinhais (8 km far from Curitiba). More than 100 competitors have participated in the Juvenile tournament.

Brazil is awarded as breakthrough golf destination
Brazil was awarded with the Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year 2010 during the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). The main golf fair of the world was held in Malaga, Spain, from November 16 to 19. The award, granted to the breakthrough destination of the year, is one of the most important in the sector, and evidences the Brazilian golf tourism’s potential.

BRAZIL IS DECLARED GOLF DESTINATION OF THE YEAR
The International Association of Golf Tourism Operators (IAGTO) awarded Brazil during the IAGTO Awards 2010, on November 19, during the closure session of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) - main world golf tourism fair. The award was elected by 100 journalists from 25 countries, specialized in the segment. Brazil competed with other 20 countries, among which Germany, Costa Rica, India and Switzerland.

BAHIA NOW HAS A NEW GOLF COURSE
The Espelho beach, one of the best-looking beaches in Brazil, now has a new attraction: the newest golf course in Bahia. It is the Outeiro Golfe Clube – a 9-hole course at Outeiro das Brisas, to be launched early in 2010. The course will be an exclusive complex of five million square meters located between Trancoso and Caraíva, southward the state of Bahia.

RIO 2016 MARKS THE RETURN OF GOLF TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES
After fastening for 112 years, golf will be disputed again in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Golf was present in the competition from 1900 to 1924 and now returns to the program, jointly with the rugby, to replace the baseball and softball. The incorporation of golf to the Olympic Games was decided in October, during the voting of the International Olympic Committee, and won by 63 votes against 27.

GOLF CAN BECOME PART OF THE 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES
Final decision on the inclusion of the modality should be disseminated in October, in Denmark, during the COI meeting. Short before, the entity should also announce the hosting country to the 2016 Olympic Games. Rio de Janeiro is one of the candidate cities.

Representatives of golf in Brazil, notably from Bahia, met to discuss joint actions to attract tourists, and promote and support events in that segment. The IGTM (International Golf Travel Market) is the World’s largest and most representative golf tourism fair. Jointly organized by the IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operator) and Reed Exhibitions, the IGTM brings together nearly 1000 companies, between buyers (more than 300 golf sending tourist operators) and suppliers (companies, countries, enterprises, and receptive operators).
