Embratur promotes golf tourism in international events

Through the Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau (BBTG), Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Board) has worked on international events to promote Brazilian golf-focused tourism destinations, products and services. The idea is to introduce the golf courses to the lovers of that sport in other countries, besides attracting foreign tourists interested in discovering the natural wealth of Brazil. Embratur is developing many actions in 2008 targeting more than ten countries.

Among the events held this year, the participation of Embratur and the Bureau in the PGA Fall Expo 2008 (Professional Golfers Association) is worth of notice. That is one of the biggest international fairs devoted to the sport, held at the Mandala Bay Convention Center, in Las Vegas (United States), from August 25 to 27.

According to the general coordinator of the Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau, Albert Gauss, almost 60% of the audience of this kind of fair is seeking for travel and leisure destinations. “The interest raised by the Brazilian booth among the fair’s visitors surprised us. That was a great opportunity to launch Brazil as a golf tourism destination among the North-American opinion builders, and to expand the scope of our actions at international level", Albert stated.

The Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau (BBTG) took advantage of the importance of the PGA Fall Expo 2008 which is recognized as an event that starts new tendencies to golf worldwide and, in its booth, it publicized the Brazilian golf courses to tourism traders and the more than 3,500 professionals, of which 30% were professionals of the PGA – the Professional Golf Association.

The next event where Embratur will work this year is the IGTM (International Golf Travel Market), from November 17 to 20, in Marbella (Spain).
