BRITISH JOURNALISTS VISIT BAHIA FOR THE FALDO SERIES FINALS
Embratur (the Brazilian Tourism Board) and the Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau (BBTG) brought a group of Britain journalists to Brazil at the end of October (from 25th to 31st) as part of the Caravana Brasil Program, to attend the Faldo Series Grand Final held at the Costa do Sauípe (Bahia).
The tournament is the grand final of one of the world’s major golf circuits for younger golfers, and is organized by the legendary British golfer Nick Faldo, winner of six majors (Grand Slam tournaments). This year’s Faldo Series hosted 80 finalists of more than 30 tournaments, held in the UK, Asia, Europe and South America. It was the first time in 12 years that the Grand Final has been held outside the UK.
The aim of the trip was to introduce Brazil as a golf travel destination for important opinion makers in the European market. The idea was to take advantage of the presence of a world class golfing legend, in order to generate spontaneous media and give international visibility for the Brazilian golfing. “It was a unique opportunity to show the Brazilian golf market to the world", said Álvaro Almeida, president of the Brazilian Golf Confederation, to which the BBTG belongs.
Professionals from BBC, Sky Sports, European Tour Weekly, Golf Monthly, Golf Punk and National Club Golfer took part of the Program. In addition to visiting the Costa do Sauípe, where the event was held, the British journalists also visited the Iberostar Praia do Forte Golf Club, rounding off the trip with a visit to the city of Salvador.
The Caravana Brasil Program was organized by the Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau in conjunction with Embratur, backed by the Brazilian Golf Confederation and partnerships with Golf Corporate Brasil, Bahiatursa, the Golf Federation of Bahia, the Costa do Sauípe administration and TAP airline.
