GOLF BUREAU INVESTS IN DOMESTIC TOURISM

After consolidating its work by disseminating at the international tourism market the options for playing golf in Brazil, through a partnership with Embratur (Brazilian Tourist Board), the Brazilian Golf Tourism Bureau – one of the branches of the Brazilian Golf Confederation – is now intensifying the advertising of the sport in Brazil.

According to the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (Iagto), the golf tourism transacts about US$ 30.5 billion/year at global level. However, the domestic market is still under development, because of the low popularity of golf in the country. On the other hand, that grants large spaces for expansion, mainly in times when domestic travels are increasing. According to Wilson Nogueira Junior, responsible for the BBTG marketing, it is now time for consolidating that game in Brazil:

"Thanks to the economic crisis, the Brazilians are traveling around the country and are offered a wide range of options, including golf.  We are preparing an institutional video to be exhibited at fairs and events involving tourism professionals,” he said. The video emphasizes the courses in the states of Bahia, Paraná, Rio and Sao Paulo.

One of the options that Marcio Melo - from the Golf Confederation – points out is the campaign “Get to Know Brazil Playing Golf”, which carries out several championships all over the country, granting awards, among which international trips to practice the sport – something similar to what happens in the surf championships of Brazil.
