PERNAMBUCO WINS ITS SECOND GOLF COURSE

Pernambuco is becoming part of the golf route. The sport that attracts new players every day now has a new course in the state. After a long time when only the Caxangá Golfe & Country Club hosted the competitions, a second golf course was launched early in April. The Colonial Inn Golf & Country Condomínio (www.colonialinngolfclub.com.br), located in Gravatá – 52.8 miles (85 km) from Recife – is another options for golf lovers.

The site was totally refurbished to host golfers. The new course has nine holes and 360 m2 of greenery. The total investment was R$ 2 million in worth and aimed at reforming the Center, which should generate 70 jobs to the population living in the vicinities.

Just like in Caxangá the Colonial will be open to whoever wants to play there. The interested golfers should only pay a green fee, the amount of which has not yet been fixed. There is also the option of becoming a member and paying a monthly fee.

Besides opening the door to expand the modality in Pernambuco, the second course can also nourish a new /golfers’ generation. "We should open schools to teach children to play, and nurture the future of golf in Pernambuco. They can train and follow the stage of the Pernambuco tournament that we are going to carry out”, said the president of the Pernambuco Golf Federation (Fepeg), João Luiz Pereira Borba.

After the stages of the Pernambuco tournament, Fepeg intends to organize a Winter Circuit to take advantage of Gravatá tourist appeal by that time of the year. "Golfers will have yet another competition in the annual calendar. Moreover, they can play at a different and pleasant site like Caxangá", said João Luiz.

ENTERPRISE – Additionally to the golf course, the Colonial Inn gathers other attractions.  Child’s playground, bicycle lane, tennis and volley courts, games room, two jogging trails of 1,000 m each, lakes for fishing, restaurants, society soccer court, steam and dry sauna, covered swimming pool and heliport, among others, all indoors. There are rental bays outdoors, but still in the condominium. The project has privileged the green, leaving 150 thousand meters to nature, where over 1.5 thousand trees – like trumpet and flamboyant trees – were planted. The cold mountain climate of Graváta during the winter (as low as 60.8o F) attracts tourists and transforms the site in a pleasant place for family leisure.
