CBG participates in the South-American golf congress

The President of the Brazilian Golf Confederation (CBG) represented the Brazilian golf during the May Congress – an event organized by the South-American Golf Federation, held from May 20 to 24 at Lima, Peru. “The meeting was mainly aimed at integrating and developing golf among the South-American countries” summarizes Rachid Orra, the President of the Confederation which is a partner of Embratur. “It promoted an extremely positive exchange of experiences among all nations participating in the event”, he adds.

The Brazilian golf representative could disclose the Brazilian golf reality to an audience made of representatives of federations and confederations from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. “We could observe that Brazil is not the only South American country moving toward golf development“, Rachid Orra stated.

Important topics were discussed during the congress, like the review of rules and minimum conditions of courses to pre-juvenile and juvenile tournaments; analysis of the World Golf Conference findings, held in St. Andrews, Scotland; adjustments to the regulations of South-American golf championships to standardize the participation of players with double nationality, among others.

Moreover, the congress was an opportunity to introduce the Faldo Series to be held at the Gávea Golf & Country Club, in Rio de Janeiro, and the Amateur South American championship, to take place at São Fernando Golf Club, in Cotia, state of Sao Paulo. “The participants have also discussed actions to strengthen the links with the R&A and benefit juvenile golf”, Rachid emphasized.
