Canavieiras

In reality, Canavieiras is called São Boaventura do Puxim de Canavieiras. It all started in a little village called Puxim, where the inhabitants chose São Boaventura to be their patron saint. They moved to another located, an island called Canavieiras, because of the constant Indian invasions. When it was elevated to the category of city, they decided to join all the names and the result was São Boaventura do Puxim de Canavieiras. But of course, over the years, only Canavieiras remains, or as it is endearingly called by the local population, Cana.
