Brazil’s Patron Saint Feast Day is an event of the Catholic Church in honor of Our Lady of Aparecida, the patron saint of the Country. The event takes place at the National Shrine, in the city of Aparecida, São Paulo state.
The day of Our Lady of Aparecida is celebrated on October 12 and is in days next to the date which is held the Feast Day. Ten days of celebrations, such as masses, novenas, and musical performances of famous Brazilian singers. During the days of the Feast Day, more than a million people travel around the local.
The National Shrine of Aparecida is considered the largest center of Catholic evangelization in Brazil and one of the main poles of religious tourism. Built in 1955, the local has neoclassical architecture, and its inner part is able to celebrate masses for up to 35 thousand people.
