Inaugurated at the end of 2015, the Museum of Tomorrow is part of a plan to revitalize the center and harbour area of Rio de Janeiro. It is not the only new feature at Mauá Square, there is also a modern Veículo Leve sobre Trilhos (VLT) (Light Rail Transit - LRT) and the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) (Art Museum in Rio).

What strikes visitors is the architecture of the Museum. Designed by the Spanish Santiago Calatrava, the architecture is inspired by the bromeliads from the Botanical Garden and its harmonious shapes mingles with the landscape around. The accessibility is another important aspect of the museum. It has the structure to meet the needs of all kind of visitors with tactile ground surface indicators, tactile maps, access ramps and wheelchairs.

Its collection is dedicated to science and to explore the possibilities of creation for the future. The concept that guides the tour in the museum is: tomorrow is a construction which starts today. The visit is interactive and the technology is used to support and enhance the visitor’s experience. From children to seniors, everyone leaves the museum thinking on how to improve the future by acting in the present.
