The National Museum of Immigration and Colonization (MNIC) is in the center of Joinville, in Santa Catarina State. Open to the public since 1961, offers a collection of over 5 thousand pieces, in an area of 6 thousand m² divided into four exhibition areas.
Built in 1870, the Casarão was landmarked by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) in 1939. The building has three floors with exhibits that narrate stories of the lives of immigrants.
The Equity Technology shed had erected on the basis of half-timbered technique and displays objects used for the work of German immigrants and Azorean settlers, such as flour mills and yerba mate.
The Half-timbered House, wooden building from the early 20th century, was in another neighborhood and was reassembled in the Museum to show the type of housing a family of middle-class immigrants of the time.
The Transport Shed, as the name says, presents the means of transport used by the immigrants, such as wagons and other animal traction vehicles.
