Originally built in 1867, São Francisco Xavier Cathedral, in Joinville, went through several modifications until 1977, when it was inaugurated with the size and characteristics that displays today.

Composed of 12 columns that refer to the Apostles, two shell-shaped domes that allude to the hands of God, and 20 stained glass windows that speak about the teachings of the Catholic Church, it is an architectural and religious icon of the city.

The church also has stairs that represent the walk to the deity and their lamps refer to the 26 biblical prophets. The main nave, with the right foot high, date back from the human smallness to before the divine Just below is the crypt, where bishops and clerics are buried, as well as the citizens who helped in the building.

The Cathedral receives daily hundreds of visitors who go to admire its beautiful architecture or to take advantage of reflective and meditative moments.

From Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m to 6 p.m. Sunday, 8 a.m. at 10 a.m., and mass at 7 p.m.
