Brotas

Brotas is located in the center of the State of São Paulo, 245 km from the capital. The city is known as one of the main destinations of adventure tourism in the region and prospered during the coffee period in the State. Its economy is based on agriculture and its vegetation is inserted between the Cerrado and the Atlantic forest. The city is very rich in water resources and has many rivers, streams and springs, which is a factor that may have contributed to the choice of the city’s name.

The Brazilian city is a pioneer in the professional practice of adventure activities such as abseiling, canyoning and rafting, being no longer a stronghold of the most experienced sportsmen and attracting families and groups of friends interested in experiencing these activities.

Among the main activities there are the descents in rapids by canoe or float, walking through trails that lead to beautiful waterfalls, and crossing valleys in zip lines that seem endless. As in the Parque dos Saltos, located in the center of Brotas, which hosts the canoeing championships.

Rafting on the Jacaré-Pepira river is almost a mandatory activity for those who love adrenaline. There are numerous options of rapids, with different levels of difficulty. Children and older people can practice floating, also called mini rafting. For people who prefer calmer waters, boia-cross is an excellent choice.

If you want a more relaxing experience, you can visit the Universe Study Center (CEU) to observe the stars in the telescope. You can also go to the Bairro do Patrimônio, filled with waterfalls and springs such as Areia que Canta (Singing Sand), where you can relax and take a refreshing bath.

For those who prefer fish, the Represa do Patrimônio, 23 km from downtown, offers this activity in addition to boating and kayaking.
