In the Northeast of Brazil there are places that are true postcards, Ipojuca, in Pernambuco State, is one of them. This municipality is located 49 kilometers from the capital Recife, in the Atlantic Forest area, and receives thousands of visitors looking for its beautiful beaches.

Accomodation

Ipojuca is highly developed in tourism, offering great accommodation and nice restaurants, besides hosting gastronomic festivals. This destination is known worldwide for the charming Porto de Galinhas Beach.

This beach offers a range of accommodations, from all-inclusive resorts with exclusive access to the beach to cozy b&bs;, nearer the city center and with cheaper prices.

Crystal Clear Waters

The crystal-clear turquoise waters hide a great number of reefs, only visible during low tide, which form warm natural pools, with plenty of colorful fishes around its calm waters. Near the beach there is a village full of handcraft shops, selling mainly items customized with the Galinha D’Angola, a local symbol.

In the village there are many pubs and restaurants serving northeastern dishes, such as carne de sol, a typical dish made of jerk beef, dishes from the Northern region, and cassava-based dishes.

Ecological tours are excellent programs if you ‘re visiting Ipojuca’s area. The Macaraípe Beach has strong waves and is a perfect spot for surfing – some championships take place over there. Local boatmen can take you sightseeing on the Macaraipe river on rafts and you can visit the mangrove areas and a seahorse sanctuary, part of the Hippocampus preservation project.

Not far from Ipojuca’s center, you can see the Muro Alto’s Beach, known for its beautiful huge sand walls and coconut trees. There you’ll find many reefs forming a beautiful and large natural pool, which reaches 2.5 km of extension. There you can enjoy warm waters and delight yourself on a typical day in the Brazilian Northeast.
