That is the definition of Ruínas Park, located in Santa Teresa, next to Arcos da Lapa. Open to the general public, the Park is what is left of the Murtinho Nobre Villa, where Laurinda Santos Lobo lived – a patron who hosted gatherings for intellectuals and artists in the early 20th century. The Villa was one of the highlights of Rio’s cultural life until Laurinda died in 1946.

Acquired by the Municipal Department of Culture, the property underwent modernist interventions and now attracts a great number of tourists from all over the world. The area has a tilted 80-seat auditorium, an exhibition gallery, outdoors stage with two dressing rooms, a broad garden area, panoramic terraces, and a lookout point with an amazing view of the Guanabara Bay and Pão de Açúcar.
