Sao Paulo is humongous – there are 12 million inhabitants living in the greatest city of the Southern Hemisphere. The third largest city in America gathers 101 museums, 164 theaters, 282 cinema rooms, in addition to several parks. It is the Latin American capital for fairs and events and it has the superstructure of the Anhembi Exhibition Park for congresses and conventions. Considered as a business center, it has a comprehensive hotel network.

The time in Sao Paulo is usually 2 hours ahead New York, meaning when it is 9pm in New York, it is 11pm in Brazil. London, in turn, is 3 hours ahead of Brazil, so when it is 12pm in Brazil, it is 3pm in London.

Gastronomia

Sampa, the city’s nickname, is fabulous and offers a vibrant nightlife. Held as the Latin American capital of gastronomy, it offers high-standard international restaurants and fine dishes made by famous Brazilian chefs. It is considered the Brazilian capital of pizza, having over 6 thousand pizza places.

Atrações

The Sao Paulo Art Museum (Masp) houses a collection of over eight thousand works of European art. The State’s Pinacoteca hosts important international exhibitions and houses works of the last 200 years of Brazilian art.

On weekends, a traditional program for the paulistanos, as the ones born in Sampa are called, is to go to the fairs around the city. Bixiga, Liberdade and Praça Benedito Calixto are some of the most famous ones.

Going to the Iberapuera Park is very pleasant. In addition to the physical exercises, bicycle paths and playground, the Park has museums, auditoriums and a planetarium, always including cultural programs.

The Sao Paulo LGBT Pride, which usually takes place in May or June, takes over Avenida Paulista to the beat of the trio eletricos. As the parade, one of the largest in the world, goes on, there are debates, cultural fairs and award presentations. Learn more about the pride parade.
