Only 70 km away from the capital Sao Paulo, Santos has its own personality and charms its visitors. The city has important titles, such as largest seashore garden in the world.

Attractions

You can enjoy a unique shore that forms beautiful beaches of clean waters and with great infrastructure in Santos. This charming postcard view is framed by colorful flower beds and a big bicycle lane.

Santos' touristic route goes further than its beaches. You can go back to the past a little, embarking on an electric cable car from the 19th century and visit the city's historic center. The place is very well maintained and has an important cultural collection. When in Santos, you can take this chance to visit the Museu do Cafe Brasileiro (Brazilian Coffee Museum), the Casa do Trem Belico (War Train House), the Praca Maua (Maua Square), the Palacio Saturnino de Brito (Saturnino de Brito Palace), the Teatro Coliseu (Coliseum Theater) and the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosario (Our Lady of the Rosary Church).

Another interesting tour is the touristic route Get to know Santos, which goes by 25 touristic places. It is possible to embark and disembark at any of the route's attractions, like the Aquario Municipal (Municipal Aquarium), the Memorial das Conquistas do Santos Futebol Clube (Memorial for Santos Soccer Association’s Victories) and the Orchidarium.

You can also visit Museum Pele, which shows the entire trajectory of Edison Arantes do Nascimento, the King of Soccer. You can see up close jerseys, soccer boots, decorations and trophies, among many other items of the athlete's personal collection, who started his career in Santos Soccer Association. Soccer lovers cannot pass the chance to visit Vila Belmiro as well.

Other attractions

In order to get to know Santos from another perspective and appreciate beauties underwater, the Parque Estadual Marinho da Laje de Santos (Marine State Park of Santos) is the perfect place. 45 km away from the coast and with a 30m deep visibility, the rocky reef is considered the best diving place in Sao Paulo State. The place is a true ecological sanctuary, sheltering fishes, turtles and an artificial shipwreck with corals and anemones.

Road (Bus)
Santos Bus Terminal has many bus companies that travel through inter-municipal and interstate lines.

Personal or rental vehicles
From Sao Paulo, the access is by Anchieta Highway (SP-150) - Imigrantes Highway (SP-160). For people leaving from the northern coast, the coastal highway Rio-Santos (BR-101) can be used.

Boat/ferry
Many international cruise ships dock at Santos’ Port. Check specialized companies in your city. You can also get to the city by ferry.

Bus
Santos offers three touristic microbus lines on weekends and holidays. Check the lines that go by the city's main attractions.

Bicycle
The city offers bicycle lanes that connect the beaches to its historical center. You can rent bikes in many places in the city with the Bike Santos app, available in Portuguese, English and Spanish for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone.

You can ride the electric cable car through Santos' historic streets.

In Santos, the summer is short and hot. The winter, however, is pleasant with an almost clear sky. Throughout the year, the temperature ranges from 19 °C to 31 °C and it rarely goes below 16 °C or over 35 °C.
