The Abrolhos Marine National Park, in the State of Bahia, was the first marine park of Brazil and has around 91.300 hectares. Its creation, in 1983, was a milestone for the conservation of marine biodiversity in the Country.
The location encompasses the archipelago of Abrolhos, which has five islands with waters which have incredible visibility and coral reefs that enthrall for the richness of its marine fauna.
When visiting Abrolhos, you have the opportunity to practice freediving of up to 5m of depth amidst hundreds of species of colorful fish and huge turtles, as well as see an Italian cargo ship that sank in 1939.
You can also observe various birds, such as brown boobies and frigatebirds, while walking with a guide around the Siriba Island and, between July and November, see the humpback whales up close.
To get there, you need to hire a boat ride departing from the city of Caravelas, about 50 km from Prado. Refer to the authorized boats.
Drink plenty of water and use a hat, shirt and sunscreen.
Fee to visit the Park: R$ 38 for Brazilians and R$ 77 for foreigners (already included in the packages of the companies that provide the service).
Those over 60 years or under 12 years of age do not pay this fee
