Prado is about 200 km from Porto Seguro, in the State of Bahia, in a region known as Costa das Baleias (Whales Coast).

With more than 80 km of sea coast, the city has beaches with fine sands and beautiful cliffs that reach 30 meters in height and are famous for their rich colors. In the city, you may find some areas that are practically isolated, and others with a lot of excitement, especially during the months from December to March.

One of the almost deserted places that you may find is Praia do Tororão, which is graced with beautiful coral reefs and an extremely calm sea. Surrounded by cliffs, the beach is less than 20 km from the center of the city and welcomes visitors with a fresh water cascade. But if you prefer excitement, look for the Novo Prado or Paixão beaches, which are full of tents and have lots of liveliness.

Board on a schooner, cross the Jucuruçu River and go to the Reefs of Guaratiba. In the warm waters of the beach of the same name, you can dive and observe numerous colorful fish, as well as encounter the friendly sea turtles that transit around there. Humpback whales also tend to appear in the region to mate and reproduce, between July and November, full of life and thrilling visitors with acrobatics that leave all open-mouthed.

In the center of the city, be sure to visit the Nossa Senhora da Purificação Mother Church. Built in the 18th century, it was made of taipa, an economical and practical way of building using wet clay and gravel. The temple has a chapel, two sacristies and a beautiful tower, which are reflections of the local culture of the time.

When hungry, look for Beco das Garrafas, which has a large number of restaurants in an environment full of small colorful houses. The main dishes are made with seafood, but there are other options.

Annually, for more than 10 years, Prado promotes a Gastronomic and Cultural Festival, usually in the month of October.
