Rio de Janeiro Beaches

2 days

Nothing is more Brazilian than the beaches of Rio. Urbanized and preserved to the right extent, they represent perfectly the cariocas and their joy.

The fireworks on New Year's Eve in Copacabana, sand full of people, is an image that runs the world. The beach will fill your eyes, even at night. Try to imagine the water front of the charming South zone of Rio de Janeiro during the day.

The coastline of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in fact, is stunning. However, you can't stay stuck only in the South zone, there still is the Barra da Tijuca, in addition to the Região dos Lagos and Angra dos Reis, and other places in the State.

Day 1
From Leme to Pontal

Start the day early walking along the water front of the south zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Your starting point is the Praia do Leme. You can rollerblade, ride a bike, or walk: you choose. The boardwalk allows, pretty much, everything. Pass through the beaches of Copacabana and Arpoador, until you reach Ipanema and Leblon. In Ipanema, make a stop. This is a fashionable spot, especially on Posto 9.

After eating in a traditional restaurant, follow to the Barra da Tijuca and stop at the Praia da Barra. Next to the Praia da Reserva, it composes nearly the entire coast of Tijuca. You must have a lot of energy and disposition to travel the more than 27 km of oceanic beauty, but the challenge is on.

Day 2
Região dos Lagos

Is it the beach that you want? Buzios has 23 of them. Hot water or cold water? Buzios has both: this city in the Região dos Lagos receives ocean currents from Ecuador, on one side, and ocean currents from the South Pole, on the other. Geribá, Tucuns, João Fernandes, Ferradura, Ferradurinha, Armação, Manguinhos, Tartaruga, Ossos, Brava e Olho-de-Boi are some of the names of th beaches in Búzios.

Since the city is located 173 km from the capital, the ideal is to hit the road without forgetting to find a lodging site, so you can enjoy the beaches with more peace of mind and make that exciting banana boat ride (an inflated buoy shaped like a banana and pulled by a boat). Still in the Região dos Lagos, you will find fine options to bath in the coast of Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo and Saquarema.
