Tibau do Sul

Add to Favorites Remove from Favorites

A small and quiet town in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Tibau do Sul was virtually unknown by tourists until the 1970s, when surfers discovered the site. The beaches are found by cliffs and ravines and call attention to the white sand, coconut trees, and calm waves.

The site became internationally known because of the Praia da Pipa, a charming fisherman's village, situated 8 km away from the city. There, in the low tide, pools form a delicious natural sea bathing spot.

It is a cosmopolitan beach, where visitors from all over the world have a great tourist structure of bars, restaurants, and stalls available to them. But bathing in the sea is not the only tourist attraction: it is possible to go hiking, take boat or buggy tours, kayak and horseback riding is also available as well as hiking in the Atlantic Forest across the cliffs.

You can also make trekking on the largest local Atlantic Forest reserve, known as the Ecological Sanctuary, and be awestruck by the breathtaking views of Chapadão, one of the most common postcard pictures of the location.

Be sure to see other beautiful nearby beaches such as Praia do Amor, perfect for surfers, and Praia do Madeiro, excellent for bathing and leisure activities, often, dolphins can be seen by visitors to these local attractions.

It may be good to reserve energy for the bustling night of the village. Bars, restaurants – both with international and regional food –, and music shake the night at the bustling Baía dos Golfinhos Avenue.

Besides the beaches, another tourist destination is Lagoa de Guaraíras, which allows boating, banana-boat tours, and fishing to visitors.

In Tibau do Sul, you can also enjoy its delicious cuisine based on fish and seafood, and purchase beautiful handicrafts such as laces and embroidery.
